Rockdale Fire Rescue

The Rockdale County Fire Rescue family continues to mourn the tragic loss of Firefighter Juan Smith, who gave his life while responding to a call in service to our community.

Juan was a valued member of our department, a dedicated firefighter, and a beloved friend and brother to those who served alongside him. His commitment to helping others and answering the call for service exemplified the values of the fire service and the character he brought to our organization every day.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, our thoughts and prayers remain with Juan’s family, his loved ones, his girlfriend, and the child they are expecting. While no words can ease the pain they are experiencing, we are committed to standing beside them during this difficult time.

Many members of our department have had the opportunity to spend time with Juan’s family over the past several days. Their faith, strength, and love for Juan have been evident through this tragedy and have been an inspiration to all who have met them.

The Chief 1106 Legacy Fund is a nonprofit organization established by the family of Battalion Chief Chris Eddy following his line-of-duty death while serving with Greene County Fire Rescue. Chris Eddy was also a former Rockdale County firefighter. The organization was created to support firefighters’ families during times of tragedy and need.

One hundred percent of all donations received will go directly to Juan’s family.
