Alcorn Career Technology Center FFA

ACTC FFA students Dalton Brake, Landen Basden, Riley Dunn, Gage West, Katlyn Duncan, Destiny Wilburn, Paisley Henry, Jerah Bivens traveled to Jackson for Legislative Day at the Capitol, where they toured the Mississippi State Capitol and heard from Andy Gipson, Brad Mattox, Bubba Carpenter and Rita Potts Parks.

Ag Power wrapped up a cool project this week and students signed their names on their work! We fabricated an underground storm shelter from start to finish. Students began by developing a design idea, reading a concept drawing, estimating materials, creating a cut sheet, and then moved into production. At this point, students worked to fabricate the needed components using the CNC plasma table. Once all parts were ready, they had to practice safe rigging to properly lift the components into place and then the fun part began….. WELDING and LOTS of it. Students performed grove welds, butt joints, and fillet welds in all 4 positions and had to coordinate the project among three different classes so that it went smoothly.
In the end, students got to see a project go from the design phase to completion and learned valuable skills that could be used in the real world to make money in their own business right here in our community!
