GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) is a naturally occurring hormone produced in the intestines that plays a key role in regulating blood sugar, appetite, and metabolism. It signals the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar rises, slows stomach emptying to help you feel full longer, and communicates with the brain to reduce hunger and food cravings. As we age, and particularly in the presence of insulin resistance, obesity, or metabolic dysfunction, GLP-1 signaling may become less effective.
The Stelo patch is the adhesive part of Dexcom’s Stelo glucose biosensor, worn on the upper arm to keep the sensor in place while it tracks glucose continuously for up to 15 days. It uses a medical-grade, pressure-sensitive, acrylic-based adhesive that is latex-free and irritation-tested, and some users add an overpatch for extra security during exercise, showering, or daily wear.

You didn’t gain weight because you stopped trying. Your body literally changed. 🧠
If you’re in your 40s eating the same, moving the same — but gaining weight anyway especially around your middle — this is why.
Oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid, and GLP-1 levels all shift simultaneously in your 40s. Each one independently makes weight loss harder. Together they can make it feel impossible.
And most standard panels don’t test half of them.
At Slender Me Medical we run the full picture first — then build a plan around what we actually find.
