It’s that time of week again! We’re here to begin another Conscious Conversation with you all, where together we delve into the mysteries, concepts, and intricacies that shape our human experience. It is through the exploration of these complex and impactful questions that we can strive to build community and strengthen relationships.

This week, we're turning our gaze towards the future, examining the evolution of what we believe to be one of the most vital aspects of human interaction, and one that our community brings up again and again: empathy.

The Evolution of Empathy: How Will Human Connection Change in the Future?

In the ever more rapidly changing world, constantly shaped by advancements in technology, shifts in societal norms, and massively impactful local and global events, how will our ability to understand and respond to the feelings of others evolve?

Can we expect that empathy will increase as we become more globally connected, or will it diminish as digital interactions continue to rapidly outpace face-to-face contact?

How will these changes influence the way we form and maintain relationships, build communities, view the world, and develop our worldviews etc? Particularly as it relates to our ability to view ourselves in our fellow humans’ shoes?

Another piece of the conversation we believe it vital to cover is action. IF we believe that it is essential to humanity’s long term survival, what action can we individually take to keep the torch of empathy burning strong?
For the sake of this question, let’s assume that we’re speaking of healthy and intentional empathy. We would love to have another conversation after this one that is centered around developing empathy while maintaining healthy personal emotional boundaries.

Moreover, how does this individual sense of self interact with the vast cosmos? Does our understanding of self shift when we consider our existence within the larger context of the universe?
