Oregon 2020 recently released a new layer on our Oregon Explorer map that lets you see where and how many eBird checklists have been submitted within Hotspot Squares. This exciting feature shows which of our nearly 2,000 squares still have few or no bird counts within them. Help us fill in the gaps!
Particularly this weekend in Lake County, where we'll be checking species and squares off the list during our County Birding Blitz. Whether you join us in Lakeview, or visit some under-surveyed squares near your home, check out the new "Surveys Conducted" layer and pick a square or two to count this weekend!

Three County Birding Blitzes down, two to go! We're headed to Umatilla County this weekend for some Eastern Oregon birding specialities. From the Columbia River to the Blue Mountains, Umatilla is a big county, so every volunteer counts. What can we expect in Umatilla County? Check out our Umatilla County Birding Spotlight:

From May 3-5, the Oregon 2020 crew headed to the coast and surveyed Tillamook county. We were able to access all but three hotspots and conducted over 500 counts.
In total, we found just over 140 species with highlights including one Veery, a couple Dusky Flycatchers, Lazuli Buntings, and a Yellow-breasted Chat. As expected, we found most of the coastal species of interest including all three species of Scoter, Tufted Puffins, Rhinoceros Auklets, various Loons, Brant, Harlequin Ducks, and a few Heerman's Gulls.
Thank you to all of our volunteers! If Umatilla and Jefferson counties sound interesting to you, take a look at our blitz schedule. We have two more this season!
