Nearly half of Americans read zero books last year. Gen Z averages fewer than six a year. Now they're entering your workforce.

As someone who spent years in education, I've watched this coming for a long time. We handed kids screens instead of books, replaced deep reading with standardized test prep, and told ourselves engagement was the same as learning.
It isn't.

Reading isn't a soft skill. It's the foundation of every hard one—critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and judgment under pressure.

If your onboarding assumes a baseline of reading comprehension, you may need to rethink that assumption.
