Like father like son

Happy Veterans Day to my dad, who fought so hard in World War II for my freedom today, Who got shrapnel pieces all over his chest, who's feet got frost bitten, who came home to only be treated like a colored person. Dad I know what you did, I remember the nightmares you had waking up in a cold sweat and I remember how you drank yourself to death afterwards, so sad but I love you dad. You must've been a strong person to get those three stripes on your arms, back then how could they have not recognize you when you were done. You told me you boxed for extra money for your 11 brothers and sisters, even after being under aged to join the arm forces, how could they not remember you when you came home from the war. Thank you for making it home dad because I would not be here today, I am so proud of you, buck Sgt. big Joe Edwards from Georgetown South Carolina. :-)
