Mississippi State showed the softball world something people need to pay attention to…

You do not have to throw 70+ mph to shut down an elite offense.

They took on one of the toughest lineups in the country in Oklahoma Sooners softball and did it with spin, command, sequencing, and confidence.

They pounded the zone.
They trusted their movement.
They changed eye levels.
They executed.
Velocity range = upper 50s, low to mid 60s.

High level spin and elite command.
So many people obsess over velocity while ignoring the things that actually make the best hitters, scared.

Velocity matters… but spin and command play at every level of this game.

Yesterday evening, Macy H. (2032
Uncommitted) pitched lights out. She’s been working hard to master her mechanics and it showed in her Corvallis Little League Majors debut. 3 innings of work, 7 K’s, 1 hit, 2 earned runs. Can’t wait to see her in the circle for her 12U Comets Fastpitch team.

Junior Flamethrowers is a structured pitching development program for beginning and young fastpitch athletes, focused on teaching strong foundations the right way from the start — before bad habits ever form. We’re holding tryouts for the Comets Fastpitch 2026 season during our January winter training sessions.

📅 Sundays | 5:00–8:00 PM

• January 25

📍 Truax Indoor Center
This is an opportunity for athletes to be evaluated in a real training environment, not just quick drills. Players will get position-specific reps, competitive work, and a feel for what Comets Fastpitch is all about.

⚠️ Roster spots are limited.
We currently have only a few openings for our 12U and 14U teams, and we will be very selective as we complete rosters. Fit, coachability, effort, and love for the game matter.
Even if you’re not actively looking for a team, check us out. If you’ve got nothing going on on a Sunday, join us at the Truax Center, throw the ball around, sharpen your skills, and meet some other softball-loving players. It’s a great facility, and we’d love to see you.

✅ There is no charge to attend the tryout sessions.

We use the most current tech tools, including PitchLogic, BlastConnect, OnFrom, and 4D Motion sensors to better understand movement, mechanics, and workload. This allows us to move beyond relying only on feel or general cues.

Athletes are able to see their movement, understand their data, and track progress. This builds clarity, confidence, and trust in the process.

Lessons are one-on-one, individualized, and focused on helping athletes move better, stay healthy, and prepare for the season ahead.
