Sometimes covering those stubborn greys comes with a tiny trade off… a little temporary hairline staining 🤷🏼♀️
Hair dye staining around the hairline is one of the most common things clients ask about after a color appointment, especially with grey coverage, brunette hair color, red tones, and darker shades.
The truth is: sometimes the better the grey coverage, the more likely temporary staining can happen. To fully cover resistant greys, the color needs enough saturation and pigment to pe*****te the hair, and occasionally that pigment grabs onto the skin too.
A few things that can make staining more likely:
•Dry or dehydrated skin
• Darker hair colors like brunettes, reds, and blue black shades
• Heat around the scalp during processing
• Skin that naturally absorbs pigment more easily
• Longer processing times for resistant greys
The good news? It’s temporary, and there are ways to help prevent it.
Hydrated, healthy skin is less likely to absorb pigment, which is why we recommend drinking water before your appointment and keeping the hairline moisturized.
If staining happens, try:
•Micellar water
• Cleansing oil
• A warm soapy washcloth
• Gentle cleansing only, no harsh scrubbing
We care about the details of your color service, including keeping your hairline looking as clean and seamless as possible 🤍
