The Star Theater

We need your help with a photo . . . The Star Theatre in Covington has seen several rehabilitations since it first opened in 1942. A 1970s update saw the installation of a concrete and marble aggregate "slip cover". The owners would like to bring the front back to an earlier look and need photos of the building from the 1950s to 1970s period, just before the panels were added. We know that a mosaic tile was added to the front façade in the 1950s.

It was common for folks to take photos standing in front of buildings and often it's what's in the background that provides that missing clue. If your family has a connection to or visited Covington in that time, check those old photos and post ones of the Star Theatre here. You may have the missing information to help save this building.
