Please keep the milk can!

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. โ€” One of Rhode Islandโ€™s most recognizable roadside landmarks is officially on the market.

The iconic Milk Can along Route 146 in North Smithfield has been listed for $7,499,900, putting the long-vacant property back in the spotlight after decades of sitting idle.

The sale includes more than just the well-known structure. The listing covers over five acres of land along Eddie Dowling Highway, along with multiple buildings tied to the property.

The 32-foot-tall Milk Can dates back to the late 1920s and was originally built as a roadside ice cream stand. It quickly became a popular stop before shutting down in the late 1960s.

In an effort to preserve it, the structure was relocated to North Smithfield in the late 1980s as part of highway improvements. Plans to revive the landmark stalled after groundwater contamination was discovered, leaving it abandoned for more than 30 years.

Now, with the property officially for sale, thereโ€™s renewed attention on whether the historic site could finally see a comeback.

Stopped by Naga Coffeehouse and the matcha was absolutely incredible. Probably the best we ever had) The moment you walk in, the space feels calm and relaxing almost like stepping into a peaceful little escape. The staff was incredibly sweet and friendly. Weโ€™ll definitely be back SOON. ๐Ÿตโ˜•๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿคโค๏ธ
