This is what freedom looks like at STRŌB. 🌿
On Thursday, Lakisha came in to talk about holding regular space at the shop. The moment we finished, a customer walked in asking specifically about yoni steams.
Lakisha is a specialist in exactly that.
She sat with the customer, listened, guided her herbally and spiritually, checking in with her ancestors the way she always does. This always happens. When Kisha shows up at STRŌB, someone walks through the door needing precisely what she offers. Every single time. Thursday was no different, and it cemented something we already felt: this community needs what Lakisha does.
Lakisha is a clinical herbalist, minister, Reiki master, yoni practitioner, intuitive life guide, and the founder of Madame Herb Madame Lakisha. She’s a root woman whose healing work is rooted in holistic traditions that have been caring for people for centuries. Healing trauma is her life’s work. She answered the call of her Ministry with a belief that she was created in this time to break the patterns that held her bloodline back by doing her own work first.
That’s real freedom. The kind you build from the inside out and then hand to the people who come to you for help.

Dear STRŌB Community,
The Fourth of July is complicated here.
We won't pretend otherwise. Freedom in this country has never been evenly distributed, and a lot of the people we love, and a lot of the people who walk through our door, are still waiting on the full measure of it. Black folks, immigrant folks, q***r and trans folks. The work of freedom isn't finished.
So we're not going to do fireworks-and-flags as if it were. Instead, we're going to do the most STRŌB thing we can think of: gather the people we love and celebrate the freedom we do have, the freedom to be exactly, unapologetically ourselves. To take up space. To make joy on purpose.
We're calling it Free-to-Be Day.
🏳️🌈 Free-to-Be Day | Saturday, July 4th | 12 to 5pm 🏳️🌈
Here's what's happening:
• Iced Let Your Freak Flag Chai, poured all day, because of course that's the tea for this.
• Snacks to share and music from our favorite marginalized artists, the soundtrack to a really good day.
• A make-your-own roll-on station with rainbow crystal chips, build your own little bottle of joy to carry with you. (Pay-per-roll-on, walk in anytime.)
And because celebrating freedom means investing in it: 10% of the day's sales go directly to Bowie PFLAG, supporting LGBTQ+ folks and their families right here in our community.
Come as you are. Bring who you love. Rock out with us, sip something cold, make something beautiful, and be free to be exactly yourself, which, around here, is the whole point.
And if you've got little ones, Playful Pandas runs that morning at 10, so you can make a whole day of it.
