Crossbars and Kayak carriers review:
I first purchased the SMS Exposed roof racks for my Wrangler JLU w/ soft top set up because I wanted a way to carry my kayak with the soft top and was not looking to spend money on a whole exoskeleton set up/lose functionality of the soft top.

The install process was easy and it didn’t interfere with the function of the soft top at all! When I first purchased the crossbars they only had kayak carrier and the kayak basket wasn’t released yet. My yakima j-low kayak carrier didn’t fit the SMS bars, but that’s yakima’s fault. Said it will 1.25in square bars but doesn’t. Other J style carrier did fit though. Once the kayak basket came out I purchased that for convenience and that is also a great product. Very customizable fit with many mounting options and the overall design is pretty great. Easy to load my 12ft kayak by myself, still manageable on the j hooks but not as easy as this basket.
