On the reverse of this photographs is written: Group on Main Top of Mt. LeConte, Oct. 1924. It was this trip which crystalized sentiment, which had been growing for some time, for the formation of a hiking club and resulted in the organization of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. Oct. 1924.
