More than 160 plant species have been documented here, and its mix of forested blufflands and open grasslands creates vital space for local wildlife to thrive.

Meet Big Tree 40, the newest addition to Florida’s protected landscapes — and a win for conservation made possible with the help of our partners Alachua Conservation Trust. Located in Columbia County, Florida, just north of the Ichetucknee River and Springs, this 40-acre property is home to a rich hardwood forest featuring live oaks, hickories, swamp white oaks, magnolias, and striking karst formations. 🌳Bonus - Big Tree 40 also provides vital habitat for many species, including the gopher tortoise🐢, a keystone species essential to Florida’s ecosystems.
