Meet Atlas, a tiny warrior with a giant heart. 😍At just 9 weeks old, this Rottweiler mix has already shown more courage than most grown dogs. Found at only 6 weeks old in a drainage ditch, crying for help after being dumped, Atlas has transformed that painful beginning into pure love and joy.

Today, he is a happy, confident, playful pup who lights up every room he enters. He adores dogs of all sizes, loves children of all ages, and believes every human is a new friend waiting to cuddle him. His favorite things include belly rubs, exploring the world with his curious little nose, and curling up in your arms when he is ready for a nap.

Atlas is kennel trained, doing amazing with potty training, incredibly smart, and full of personality. He is brave, social, affectionate, and ready to give his whole heart to the family who chooses him.

This sweet boy is searching for his furever home; a place where hell be cherished, protected, and loved the way he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a story of resilience and a spirit full of sunshine, Atlas is waiting for you.

He is UTD on vaccines and will be neutered at the appropriate age. Applications at bigloverescue.org

Texas has the HIGHEST heartworm rates in the United States! We preach to our adopters the importance of monthly prevention. We have spent thousands over the years treating dogs that come into our rescue for heartworms. Please please talk to your veterinarian about different prevention options.

Mosquitoes are everywhere in Texas, and it only takes one infected bite to put your pet at risk. Heartworm disease causes serious damage to the heart and lungs, and treatment is expensive, lengthy, and not without risks.

Is heartworm incidence up or down in your area? The new AHS Heartworm Incidence Survey and Map reveals the trends.

In 2023, Queenie and Tru jumped into my car in a school parking lot. Queenie had clearly been used, overbred, and ultimately discarded. She was a senior girl with mammary tumors and an uncertain amount of time left, and finding the right placement for her was not easy. It took a long time.

Then in 2024, the Poff family stepped up to foster her and quickly realized she belonged with them forever. They gave Queenie what every dog deserves: safety, love, comfort, and a family of her own. While Big Love Rescue remained her support system and continued covering her medical care, the Poff family gave her the best chapter of her life.

Recently, Queenie's quality of life began to decline, and it was time to let her go peacefully. While our hearts are broken, we are incredibly grateful that her final years were filled with love instead of neglect.

From the Poff family:
"Rest in peace, Queenie Love. Humans had done you wrong before we met. You were so brave to give us and BLR a chance. You were as determined as we were to get the most out of your time with us. You loved car rides to the park. You loved following us around the house and we already miss our 'shadow.' You loved laying on our feet when we sat down. You were incredibly tough and resilient. We admired, appreciated, and loved you so."
Run free, sweet Queenie.

Thank you, Poff family, for showing her what unconditional love looks like. 🌈❤️
