I never thought how AI can assist those with disabilities in the music industry here is a great example. For the first time since a 2013 stroke left country singer Randy Travis unable to speak or sing properly, he has released a new song. He didn’t sing it, though; instead, the vocals were created with AI software and a surrogate singer. My wife who is huge country music fan has been listening to his new song all week.

On April 18th, I was invited with little to no prep time to appear as part of a panel of witnesses for the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, as they conducted a study on the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations. It was a privilege to speak alongside Maayan Ziv, who delivered an outstanding and emotionally charged message. Though not my best speech, I believe I effectively conveyed my message. My three key points were: firstly, emphasizing the need for the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) to collect and annually publish accessibility related travel data; secondly, asserting that our equipment is inherently tied to human rights; and finally, advocating for collaboration between the air travel industry and medical industries to improve the design of wheelchairs and assistive devices for use in the confined spaces of airplanes.
