🌊Swimming Skills Save Lives

Learning to swim is more than a summer activity. It's a skill that can save a life.

That's why Behind Every Door partnered with the YMCA to provide swim lessons for our campers at Scouting America Circle Ten Council Camp Wisdom.

According to the CDC, drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death for children. More children ages 1 to 4 die from drowning than from any other type of injury. Swim lessons help children build confidence in the water while reducing their risk.

Here are a few simple ways to keep kids safe around water:
🏊 Enroll children in swim lessons.
👀 Always have a dedicated Water Watcher.
🚨 Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
🛟 Use properly fitted life jackets when appropriate.

Summer Camp Vibes!

One of our favorite parts of summer camp is watching people bring their unique gifts to our community.

This week, our teens had the opportunity to design their own custom sneakers alongside Saving Soles by AK, using art as a creative outlet to explore mental wellness, self-expression, and school readiness.

There was creativity.
There was laughter.
There were conversations.
There was confidence being built with every brushstroke.

But something else happened, too.

This was Saving Soles by AK’s first experience at Behind Every Door.

As the day unfolded, she experienced what so many people discover when they walk through our doors: this isn’t just a building. It’s a community where people are invited to use their gifts to create opportunities for others to flourish.

We believe every person has something meaningful to contribute.

Sometimes our role is simply creating the space where purpose and opportunity meet.

We’re grateful for , for saying “yes,” and for investing in the lives of our summer camp students through creativity, education, and care.

This is what community looks like.
This is what collaboration makes possible.
This is another pathway being built, together.
