The window seating in open coworking do quiet, important work for everyone who sits near them.

Morning daylight, especially in the first hour of being awake, helps your body sort out what time it is. Which helps your sleep at night. Which helps almost everything else.

If you have not sat in this part of the building in a while, the seat by the window is open this morning.

Celebrating Juneteenth: A Day of Freedom and Community Resilience

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This federal holiday is a powerful symbol of the end of slavery and the enduring spirit of African American communities.

🔴🟡🟢⚫️ Why Juneteenth Matters 🔴🟡🟢⚫️

Historical Significance:

- Delayed Freedom: Despite the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, freedom wasn't realized for many until June 19, 1865.
- First Celebrations: Initially marked by prayer meetings and spirituals, Juneteenth has evolved to include parades, cookouts, and cultural events.

Importance of Community:

- Unity and Togetherness: Juneteenth fosters a sense of unity, bringing families and communities together.
- Cultural Preservation: Celebrations highlight African American history, music, art, and traditions.
- Support Systems: Community support has been crucial in overcoming systemic challenges and driving social justice movements.

🔴🟡🟢⚫️ How to Celebrate and Support 🔴🟡🟢⚫️

- Attend Local Events: Participate in parades, festivals, and educational workshops.
- Support Black-Owned Businesses: Shop locally and invest in the community.
- Engage in Educational Activities: Learn and share the history and significance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is more than a celebration—it's a testament to resilience and the power of community. As we honor this day, let's continue the journey towards true freedom and equality together. ✊🏾🖤
