In Fort Worth, Texas, the 67-acre Oak Grove Community Park, which has been inactive for eight years, is set for rejuvenation. The land was strategically acquired in November 2015 by Fort Worth’s Parks & Recreation Department in response to anticipated population growth in the adjoining Everman and Forest Hill regions. However, despite the clear necessity for its development and residents advocating for facilities like walking trails and recreational playgrounds, the project faced numerous funding setbacks.

In 2021, Council member Chris Nettles brought the park's cause to prominence, securing a $3 million allocation, an initial fund for the project. Renowned O’Flinn Design Group has been commissioned to design the park's master plan, with a ratification expected by 2024. The community has shared their aspirations for the park, including varied amenities like playgrounds, walking trails, and safety barriers. With a projected timeline of two to three years for the park's primary facilities, the community anticipates a vibrant future for the locale.
