Phones, electronic devices, etc are not allowed inside of an institution, so it was a huge surprise that my old job, The U.S. Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons, took professional pictures and recorded my presentation for the Affirmative Employment Committee-LGBTQIA event last month.

It just goes to show that sometimes that urge to “walk by faith; not by sight” will put you exactly where you need to be.

I did not choose to quit USDOJ because I was unhappy. I had this restlessness for years that I could accomplish more informing and educating about how the Department’s various agencies really work. Dispelling misconceptions and reminding folks that criminal justice reform involves acknowledging the hard working folks that work at Justice and understanding the unique challenges that they each face everyday.
