New in the Dallas Police Museum image archive. May 27, 1984 two Dallas Police Officers were injured while at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Frederick Gray drove on to the scene, provided aid to the injured officers and help control the scene so not further accidents occur. The family of Mr. Gray shared the certificate and the image of Mr. Gray receiving his commendation from then Chief of Police Billy Prince.

A long standing tradition of the Dallas Police Department of wearing hats, even inside the patrol car eased September 13, 1968. So only outside the squad cars must the uniform patrol officers wear a hat.
