Defense By Design
Defense By Design offers professional and personal defensive training.
I was recently contacted by a company where last year their invited me in to present to tenants and tenant employees onsite. They just asked me to do so again this year given the positive feedback from tenants and employees last year.
Why is this important? After all, 'surely' the and even precautions are in-play, right? Yes, they are. But they also took heed to my prior warnings about how all of these points of mitigation can be nullified by untrained tenants and their employees -- hence 'this' training. It is when both approaches are combined that they are offering a more comprehensive approach to building, tenant and property safety/security. I am there to compliment and enhance those other efforts.
And doing so on an annual basis does two additional things: (1) it shows and documents their 'ongoing commitment' to safety/security and (2) it shows and documents 'above-and-beyond' measures in doing so, both which play out well should they ever be legally called into question. And last year, one of their vendors even sponsored the training, possibly this year as well, so even better!
For those in or even any working within this same industry, perhaps we too should talk. I would say any member the same.

And ‘this’ is one of the reasons I am doing more and more training with the sector - but it’s not just the police.
Why is such training always “after” the fact? We all know how turnover skews prior trainings.
The wrong actions/responses by city personnel can often lead to not only a decline in public trust, but legal action and civil lawsuits as well. This is all part of today.
I will be speaking this June at the Texas Municipal League on this very topic, but open to conversations with any or others interested.
And any working with the same, let’s also talk.

Hey, it’s off-the-clock, so it doesn’t impact us, right? Wrong! This is about
So who will replace him (staffing issue), who will cover his case files (operations issue), how will this impact his coworkers (morale issue), what will be the result of this distraction/gossip in the office (productivity issue), and how will this tarnish the reputation of the office/city (public image issue)?
All of these have dollar figures attached, and are impacted both immediately and simultaneously. This is a call to and alike - not just those in the sector.
While I will be addressing this in November at the Texas Municipal League state conference, I am addressing the same in a myriad of other professional audiences too.
I know someone who can help.
