Brother Bill's Helping Hand was proud to partner with the Dallas County Healthy Start Program to provide a Car Seat Safety Class for families in our community. Six participants attended this hands-on training, where they learned the importance of selecting, installing, and using child safety seats correctly.
Following the class, each family received a new car seat, with some families also receiving additional car seats and/or booster seats to meet the needs of their children. Participants then had the opportunity to install their new car seats in their own vehicles with guidance from certified instructors, who provided one-on-one support to ensure each seat was installed correctly and safely.
This partnership not only equipped families with essential child passenger safety knowledge but also gave them the confidence and resources to help keep their children safe on every trip. We are grateful to the Dallas County Healthy Start Program for investing in the safety and well-being of the families we serve.

Today, we’d like to recognize Cynthia Yanoff and her generous team of volunteers who consistently show up in a big way for Brother Bill’s during the summer season. When school is out, many children lose reliable access to the lunches they would normally receive at school. This creates added stress for parents who may already be struggling to provide meals for their families. To help meet this need, Cynthia and her team faithfully provide 400 sack lunches each week throughout the summer for the children we serve at Brother Bill’s.
In 2009, Cynthia learned about this need and immediately stepped in to help our neighbors. Her motivation was simple: she wanted to teach her children the value of generosity and encourage them to serve other kids in their community. What began as Cynthia, a few friends, and their children making lunches together has grown into a community-wide effort that now extends far beyond her immediate circle.
Every Tuesday afternoon, anywhere from 20 to 80 people gather in the Yanoff family kitchen to prepare sandwiches and pack lunch bags for children in our neighborhood. Cynthia makes sure every child receives a sandwich, chips, a snack, and fruit in their lunch bag. Partnerships with NCL moms and daughters, neighboring families, YMSL, and Sprouts- which donates fruit each week- help make this mission possible.
What started as a simple way to teach her children about selflessness has grown into something far greater, continuing after her own kids’ childhood years. Today, it has become a true North Dallas community project. Cynthia, thank you for taking a selfless step of faith and answering a need when you saw it. Your leadership and dedication have helped us serve hungry children every summer.
