We had such a wonderful@time today at the 100th Book Bash!!! Students at Hexter Elementary celebrated books and reading with an author and illustrator visit, a reading nook and dance party. Best of all they each were able to self select a book of their choice to take home with them. brought author and illustrator and author , so students were able to meet and author and illustrator in real life and experience their first book signing 🥺🤗🥺🤗.

One of my favorite partnerships is the parent book club . Family Engagement Coordinator Monica Arellano has created such welcoming space for parents. The bilingual hybrid book club met this month to read It Didn’t Start With You / Este Dolor No Es Mío by and the conversation was wonderful. We explored how to break cycles of trauma and heal familial wounds. Parents are able to attend in person or virtually and child care assistance in available in the meeting room, so the children are nearby and get to see their mothers engaged with books and great discussion. Together we are activating reading culture. Interested in starting a parent book club at your campus ? Reach out to us and let us know.

We had a wonderful time with . We partnered with them for a spectacular morning of community and holiday spirit. We read Esperanza Caramelo and forty families received gifted copies of the book, which were available in both English and Spanish.

It was a wonderful evening! We had our very first silent reading party in collaboration with .joy.coffee. We welcomed over 40 community readers, collected donated books for a new ARCO shelf located in side the coffee shop and just hung out and read. Great people, great drinks and food and little joy 🤩.

When I start a new book I always write a note to myself letting me know where I was and what I was doing. It’s my way of stamping the beginning of a new book and noting the space I’m in. It’s my little reading ritual 🫶🏽. Do you have a reading ritual ? Would you like to joint our next silent reading party ?
