Have you ever made a dinner choice based on proximity?

I was grabbing my weekly tea at HTeaO when I saw Anaya’s Seafood Scratch Kitchen-Plano across the parking lot.

Not knowing what to select, I ordered their fish and chips ($17), and it was okay. I would have liked the batter to have more flavoring, but the fries were great!

Ultimately, fried fish doesn't allow a chef a lot of creativity in the kitchen, so next time I'll try their herb-crusted cod or the seafood enchiladas.

Do you know what I love about Mediterranean food, more specifically Turkish food? It's simple and tasty!

Just look at this "Adana Kebab (grilled minced beef - $16)" dish from Lezzet Cafe Dallas. It's not much to look at, but the meal is unforgettable because it's the perfect blend of seasonings and spices on a savory bed of rice.

If you like Turkish Food, I would definitely recommend Lezzett Cafe in North Dallas.

Just curious ... why do you only get a little bit of food at upscale restaurants? 🫣 Is that my greediness talking?

For this adventure, I met a friend in Irving, Texas, to try Hugo's Invitados for a modern Mexican-influenced meal.

Verdict? Beyond delicious! I savored each bite and wanted more.

If you're interested in trying this dish, it's the "44 Farms Filet Mignon" ($41).

Pan-seared, all-natural filet mignon, poblano mashed potatoes, sweet roma sauce, arugula, & serrano garlic-lime compound butter.

Next on my list of restaurants in Historic Downtown Grapevine ... Tolbert's Restaurant & Chili Parlor.

First, this restaurant screams Texas! It has an old saloon-style feel to it, which is the perfect atmosphere for live shows.

Second, Tolbert's is known for their Texas chili so we ordered "Frank's Frito Pie" ($8), and the dish was better than we expected.

✨ Pro Tip: order an extra cup of Fritos to increase the Frito-to-chili ratio.

In the end, I would have preferred chunkier chili than the sauce-style texture we received, but the flavor was still good.

Give them a shot if you're craving a cup of chili.

As a South Texan, I thought I had tried every kind of Mexican food. Then I was introduced to upscale Mexican food at Maria’s Mexican Kitchen in Fort Worth.

We started with Braised Beef Sopes ($14). I’m not a fan of refried beans, so this was a pass for me.

Then the entree arrived 🥰...

I got their special of the day, but it’s similar to the Mar y Tierra on the current menu.

My dish came with steak, mushrooms, shrimp, scallops in an almond sauce for about $55. 😮

The prices are definitely upscale, but the food was really good so it was worth it.

Do you remember when regular chicken was our only option?

Now, if it’s not hot, we don’t want it.

The 2 tender and fries meal (mild flavor) at Daveshotchicken in North Dallas is my go-to for chicken cravings.

Oh, and the crinkle 🍟 are my favorite part. I can never make it home without eating a few.

This Mom’s Meatball Sandwich ($14) from The Community Grill in Frisco, may not look like much, but these meatballs reminded me of Nana's cooking.

While the sandwich was good, the brussel sprouts topped with cheese and bacon were even better… 😍😍😍.

You can clearly see we didn’t leave any of them behind.

Note: I don’t see the brussel sprouts on the menu anymore, so you may have to ask for them.

Two reasons why I love D.L. Mack's ...

(1) Bread lovers, did you see the rolls? They taste as good as they look.

(2) Have you ever had a meatball pizza? This is the Return of the Mack with Italian sausage, giardiniera, caramelized onions and it’s 🔥.

I had to force myself to stop eating. If you love pizza, head over to Highland Park for this gem.
