Dallas property tax update for seniors πŸ‘‡

This year, the City is holding the over-65 and disabled exemption steady at $175,000. No increase for 2026 as the city works through a tighter budget, but the relief itself isn't going anywhere.

Here's what that $175K still does for you πŸ”₯

It comes off the city portion of your taxable value. Combined with the 20% homestead exemption, homeowners with homes valued at $218,750 or less pay no city property taxes at all.

The catch? A lot of people who qualify never file for it.

βœ… Primary residence only
βœ… 65+ or disabled
βœ… File through your county appraisal district (DCAD for Dallas County)
βœ… Already have it? No need to reapply

Why the passion? Because Preston Hollow isn't just another zip code. Tree-lined streets, real architectural character, one of the most established luxury pockets in Dallas. People here care deeply about what goes up next door.

That's not a knock on growth. It's a sign of how much this neighborhood is worth protecting πŸ”₯

The project still has to clear the City Plan Commission and City Council, so the story isn't over.

Curious what your home is worth in a neighborhood this in-demand? Let's talk βœ…
