Sometimes communication does not look the way people expect it to.
For Chet, it started with letters. Then words on the fridge. Then writing. Then moments where those written words slowly started becoming spoken ones, too.
And according to Maggie, one of his very first surprise words definitely kept everyone on their toes.
In our newest conversation, Chet’s mom, Maggie, shares what it has been like watching her son connect with language in his own way and on his own timeline. It is honest, funny, hopeful, and such a beautiful reminder that there is no one “right” way to communicate.
