A few years ago, I started getting the same feeling about robotics and AI that I got about EVs back in 2011.

Back then, I became convinced electric vehicles were the future long before most people around me believed it. A friend told me about Tesla shortly after it went public. I invested… and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

Now I think another massive disruption is coming.

This time? Robots.

Specifically, humanoid robots capable of cleaning homes, mowing lawns, cooking meals, gardening, caregiving, and eventually doing nearly everything humans can do physically.

As someone who owns house cleaning companies, this led me down a rabbit hole:

* When will robots realistically replace cleaners?
* What happens to the home service industry?
* When should cleaning company owners sell?
* Will self-driving cars completely reshape society too?
* And what happens when every family can afford their own household robot?

So I wrote an incredibly deep dive into the future of AI, robotics, self-driving transportation, and the eventual disruption of nearly all home service industries.

And frankly, the more research I did, the more I realized this may happen much sooner than most people think.

And yes… there’s also a Terminator cleaning joke in there somewhere. 😅

P.S. Completely unrelated fact: today is May 12, the same day the events of the original Terminator movie begin in Los Angeles with the arrival of the Terminator and Kyle Reese in 1984. So if your Roomba starts making eye contact today… maybe stay alert. 😅

20 years.

That’s not a typo.

Yesterday I was talking with Delfina, and we started reminiscing about the early days of Dallas Maids. She joined just a couple years after I started the company… and never left.

Over those two decades, she raised two daughters, put both through university, and built a life through hard work, cleaning homes day in and day out.

Hearing her talk about it, how proud she is of her daughters… frankly, it made my week. (Also, one of her grandkids doesn’t believe anyone can stay at the same job for 20 years, so we’re putting that debate to rest with an official certificate 😄)

We’ll also be giving her a 20-year gold anniversary ring soon. Very well deserved.

Moments like this remind me, this business isn’t just about cleaning homes. It’s about people, families, and the lives built along the way.

Delfina, thank you. Truly.

Here’s a little secret from professional cleaners…

We can usually tell what kind of clean a home needs within about 30 seconds of walking in the door. And it’s almost never what homeowners think.

It’s not the baseboards.
It’s not the ceiling fans.
It’s things like smell, clutter, kitchen counters, bathrooms, and entryways.

We wrote a new blog post about the things cleaners notice immediately when they enter a home and a few easy ways to make your home look cleaner instantly.

You might be surprised.
