Rate my hospital "steak"

Had the most embarrassing date of my life. So 2am black garlic ribeye it is. Yes, I am eating the steak with a plastic fork in my bed. I won’t feel embarrassed by that because the steak was cooked to perfection and nothing could be more embarrassing than my date was.

Boyfriend says my family didn’t teach me what medium-rare looks like! Made a small roast to celebrate my boyfriend’s promotion, and asked how he’d like it done. He said on the rare side of medium rare. When served, he looked at it strangely, and asked if I was sure it was done. I told him it was how my family always referred to steaks as medium rare, and he said they were wrong, and I shouldn’t trust any of their advice on cooking.

Admittedly, we never really went out to restaurants for steak growing up - it was just whatever someone in the family cooked for us. What are your thoughts, Reddit? Has my family always described their steaks wrong?

I’m a vegetarian but I bet my friend I could cook a better steak than he could. We were both aiming for medium rare. What’s the verdict - top or bottom?

Had to say goodbye to my 13 year old good boy today, so I made sure his last meal was a good one.

After 30 odd hours of flying from Australia, I came to pay pilgrimage at the British Museum. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. IYKYK 😂
(I jest, the museum was absolutely beautiful and now I have a perfect reason to revisit in the future!)

My wife and I live off grid in a yurt in Alaska.
Woodstove and dog heat only! We wanted to share a glimpse of our world with you! We have 45 sled dogs. Alaskan Huskies, a northern breed. But we love to bring them inside for a good old "dog party" regularly. As well as rotate out who sleeps inside. They each spend about 2 nights a week inside for some good old one on one time. (More than that they will shed their undercoat due to the heat and this wouldn't be good for them) We spend most of the day on the trail training for the Iditarod. We took 2nd place in the 2024 Iditarod!

There are only 18 showing in the photo, but between the three side rooms in the yurt we have a total of 30 inside at this moment. The other 15 aren't as socially behaved with each other.
