At 48 years old, I did something I never imagined I would actually enjoy: I took my very first solo trip.

I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly shocked by how naturally people and I gravitated toward each other and by how open I was to trying new things...I experienced new foods, met some really cool people, more people than I expected, discovered different ways to enjoy a city, and realized that traveling alone doesn’t have to mean being alone.

I’ve always been the guy who plans trips with friends, so the idea of traveling solo never really crossed my mind and was out of my comfort zone...BUT this experience changed that.

It may have only been a short trip to Houston, but it was a meaningful first step. Sometimes the smallest adventures open the door to the biggest discoveries...not just about the world, but about ourselves.

Here’s to many more solo adventures ahead!
