Armor Fencing

Replacing a fence and a homeowner wants to preserve some history. What are some methods of preserving sentimental value items? I was thinking renailing on new fence or placing them in a mason jar.

Stained and restored, life extended! Thats what i like to think anyway!

The cedar posts took on the stain much different than the other material. What do yall think? How can you avoid this
