Hi Lavabit well-wishers,
I am Aakash Sareen, architect for the Volcano project, and lead slinger of source code. I’ll be posting updates on our progress periodically on the development of Volcano. To that end, it’s my pleasure to announce, that with the success of the Republic campaign, we’ve already begun laying the groundwork for the expanded development to begin. To that end, the CEO, Ladar Levison, has already made the trip to India, where he’ll be spending the next few months training our new recruits to work on the next generation of email, also known as Magma and Volcano.
Our first few days have been extremely busy. We’ve been in meetings with Ladar, as we translate his vision and goals for Lavabit into action items. Our short term planning has been focused around libdime, the cross platform library, and backbone needed to support the rest of our Dark Internet Mail Environment implementation. It’s the critical missing piece needed to bring end to end private and encrypted email to every desktop and mobile device.
The months ahead of us are gonna be full of hard work and excitement, but I would still like to say, on behalf of the entire team, we feel privileged to be working on this project, because we believe in Lavabit’s mission. It’s time for users to take back control of their privacy.
Best,
Aakash
