Our concertmaster for today’s Bach Vespers Dr. Ha Dang!
Dr. Ha Dang is an award winning and accomplished modern and Baroque violinist. Her goal is to bring early music performed in historical performance practices to diverse audiences. She has appeared as soloist with the Dallas Bach Society and University of North Texas’s Baroque Orchestra. Dr. Dang has also performed as a chamber musician and orchestra member throughout Europe, North America, and Asia.
In 2019, Ha Dang was the recipient of the “Adams-Nordstrom Early Music Award” at UNT for excellence in scholarship and performance. She was awarded second prize in the chamber music category and third prize in the solo violin category in Vietnam’s Concours Autumn Competition 2007. She also won second prize in the Group A of 2011 Thailand’s Mozart International String Competition.
She holds degrees from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of music (YSTCM) in Singapore and received her masters and doctorate degrees in violin performance at the University of North Texas.

Our bass soloist for Bach Vespers, BWV 69 this Sunday is
Baritone Brandon Gibson. Brandon is known for his resonant tone and commanding vocal presence. He
recently made his role debut as Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Opera Arlington,
where he was praised for his “impeccable comedic timing and effortless delivery,” and hailed as
“the true scene-stealer.” He returned to Opera Arlington in time for the holidays as Peter (Father)
in Hansel and Gretel. In 2026, he will perform the roles of Karl Marx, Mr. Lister, and others in
Kevin Puts’s Elizabeth Cree with Opera Today! in Fort Wayne, IN.
Brandon has appeared as a soloist with the Dallas Bach Society, Irving Symphony, Voces
Intimae, and Amarillo Opera, performing major works such as Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s
Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and numerous Bach cantatas.
His operatic repertoire also includes Ein Musiklehrer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Mr. Gedge (Albert
Herring), Achilla (Giulio Cesare), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Apollon/Pluton (La descente
d’Orphée aux enfers), Baron Douphol (La Traviata), and Melchior (Amahl and the Night
Visitors). With The Dallas Opera, he has performed the roles of Un commissionario in La
Traviata and Sergente dei doganieri in La Bohème.
Brandon holds degrees in Vocal Performance from Rice University and Southern Methodist
University.
