Consider adding in soft elements to a play space. We have some very loved and needed dolls and babies - but doing a small crib or high chair or seating for EVERY baby & doll would be impossible in this space. I love this shelf from the Container Store. It allows the perfect amount of space for storing babies & dolls as well as their accessories. Big bonus - this shelf can change and evolve as interests change and evolve.

Storing stuffed toys/soft toys can present a challenge as well ~ I added a large basket and put all soft toys in it. That way playing with them for a pretend tea party or birthday party is easy because all the friends are right there to be pulled out and played with. It also encourages easy clean up for the child once play time is done.

Add a dedicated play area in your living room! Children want to be where we are. If you can’t dedicate an entire room to be a play room - create a play space in your living room.

I have recently redone my daughter’s play area. She will be 3 in September and her interests are evolving and changing. Here, you will see a play house with furniture and family play figures. I added a large basket to hold her stuffed/soft toys and a lamp for some additional lighting.

The cloud and sun are decorative and make the wall look like a child’s drawing ~ so don’t be afraid to add beauty and fun to a child’s space.

Facing books forward allows the children to see their options. Face books forward to help children make decisions about what they want to read. Readers are leaders.
