After 74 years the tradition is over. 🎤Sad day. HNIC on CBC is no longer. I was 8 years old when Saturday Nights first captivated me. It was HOCKEY NIGHT! I would fall asleep some nights in my Toronto home while watching the game with my family. But I suppose I literally dreamed my dream job. So grateful. 🎤👏 Mickey and I both learned from the greatest hockey broadcast school one could ever attend. I sat next to Don Cherry for “Coach’s Corner”, interviewed the greats of the game and later called the games from the same gondola as Foster Hewitt and Danny Gallivan and Bob Cole. All thanks to John Shannon John Shannon’s belief in me 💯%. Thanks for the memories and a career HNIC - Detroit Red Wings Hockey Club Detroit SportsNet

Eight years ago, the Jamie Daniels Foundation was founded with one mission: to create hope, break stigma, and help families facing substance use disorder know they are not alone.

Since then, because of this incredible community, that mission continues to grow. Together, we’ve helped expand collegiate recovery programs across Michigan, supported prevention education for thousands of students, connected families to critical resources, and continued important conversations that save lives.

Thank you for believing in recovery, prevention, and the power of community. The work is far from over, but because of you, hope continues to reach more people every day.

Dear Jamie,

It’s hard to believe the last time we were able to celebrate your birthday with you was when you turned 23.

Today is your birthday. For 10 years now, your birthday wishes are heaven-sent. Just to be clear, it sucks!

As with every year, we think of you and what could have been. So many things have happened, and are happening, that we wish you were a part of. But, as with years past, our heaven-sent messages will have to do.

We wish you a happy heavenly birthday. We celebrate you today, and cherish the memories we have of you, and birthdays we got to share with you.

You are loved beyond measure, and are in our hearts and our thoughts always.
