Lone Pine, California. Alabama Hills Recreational Area is California’s very own Red Rock/Moab-inspired terrain, thus further proving the case that our state truly does have a little bit of everything. The massive boulders and arches jut out of the ground, and surprisingly sit at the base of a gorgeous snowy mountain range of greenery- adding quite the contrast in color. 🏔 .
There are several arches here to choose from, the most popular being Mobius Arch. Seeing as there was quite the line on the trail leading to it, we opted to find another arch to check out. This one is the “Eye of Alabama Hills” and while it looks small and inaccessible, it’s big enough to fit at least two people sitting in it and we would know cause we hiked up to it and tested it out. Note: definitely need to keep hydrated- this is high elevation, dry and not at all shaded.

Orangevale, California. The best thing to ever happen to Orangevale! Thank you for the top notch coffee, and your support for our first responders, Badfish. Also, your logo kinda looks like our matching tattoos, so we’re a sucker for the sentimental😘 .

West Sacramento, California (part 3): Sal’s Tacos & Taco Tuesday. Basically our love for Mosaic Art, The Sacramento Kings and Mexican Food came together and is forever embedded here. Literally, from outdoor walkway to inside walls, tables, booths and ceiling, this ENTIRE restaurant is completely covered in mosaic tiles created by the owner himself, Sal. 🌮 .
So, it’s a good thing the food is authentic AND phenomenal because you’ll want to go admire this building in a tourist-y way but you won’t want to just stand there looking silly and taking pictures so indulge yourself with lunch, which will then turn in to dinner with all the leftovers. 🌮.You can’t miss this place due to all the bright colors but no matter if you do, the entire area is going through a revitalization so enjoy the community gardens, murals, and shops in the area as well. ✌🏼! . . . 📸

San Luis Obispo, California. When in SLO, do as the SLOians do, and overeat yourself to oblivion with a “Sando” from High Street Market & Deli. The small shop is always crowded, which means everyone who arrived before you already decided it was worth the wait, so why not you too??? Helpful hint: go with one or more friends so you can all order something different and then just share like your mama taught you. Duh. Dilemma resolved, you’re welcome!! Pictured: my ‘tropical vacation sando’ and a fresh brewed ice tea. Not Pictured: Us in a food coma shortly after. And, Yes that’s cranberry sauce! 🥪.

Elk, California: We get a kick out of handmade road signs telling you which way is where, and we also get a kick out of small, local grocery markets with EXCELLENT coffee on the ready! When lost in the midst of Coastal-Nowhere, a hot panini from The Elk Store is where you need to find yourself. Note: did not see any Elk. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️.
