Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 179, initiating reforms to California's affordable housing finance system. The bill establishes a new Housing and Homelessness Agency, aims to reduce construction costs, and extends the Housing, Homelessness Assistance and Prevention Program. New accountability measures for homelessness reduction are also included.
