Thank you to everyone that came to the Spring Fabric Sale last weekend! Getting ready for the sale is an immense amount of work for our wonderful volunteers, but all of that is forgotten as soon the doors open. It's great to meet so many new friends at the event.
One question that's often asked is about how the proceeds from the sale are used. All the proceeds from sale are used on DSC programming, such as a our workforce development training program for industrial sewing, Dayton Train to Sew. The workforce training program is offered to participants for FREE. The curriculum we use in the Dayton Train to Sew training program has been developed with input from local manufacturers and focuses on the skills manufacturers are looking for when they hire industrial sewist. In the past 9 years, close to 400 people have participated in this training program. Similar programs are offered in Cincinnati and Columbus with priced at $1200 - $1500.
