COCD's Education Director, Jessica Ashe, is lucky enough to have been paired with an amazing mentor, Mark Kraus, Executive Director of the Clinton County Foundation as part of the AFP, Greater Dayton Region Chapter Mentor-Mentee program.

🥕 Fresh food. Shared knowledge. Stronger community. 🌽

Executive Director, Catherine Bitwayiki, takes Cross Over Community Development scholars to the Antioch College Working Farm and Learning Laboratory. Through this partnership, they take “farm to table” seriously — from the soil all the way to your plate.

Together, Native Ohioans and New Americans are growing culturally relevant vegetables, promoting food equity, and proving that sustainability tastes even better when community is involved.

Bonus: Antioch students are helping make sure our crops are planted, harvested, cleaned, and stored safely.

Thank you, Nicolae Cernomaz, for the translations.

Language is a barrier—until it becomes a bridge. This is at the heart of our transformational care approach.

Through Crossover Community Development (COCD), we are proud to partner with community advocates, including Dayton’s Equity Center, Miami Valley Meals, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, Ohio University, and Afromeals to create pathways that support New Americans and strengthen inclusive communities, advancing the mission of a thriving Welcome Dayton!

Together, we are building access to opportunity through programs such as the Healthcare Bridge Program and the Forklift Certification Program. These initiatives strengthen English language skills, provide career-specific training. Together it is our honor to help foster confidence and job readiness for long-term success.

To learn more, visit Crossover Community Development or call +1 (513) 422-8445.

We appreciate Nicolae Cernomaz and his continued translation support!
