Now that the fireworks have faded, we’re checking in. Did your dog or cat handle the holiday well, or did they struggle with anxiety, hiding, pacing, or other signs of stress?

For a lot of dogs and cats, the Fourth of July is one of the most stressful nights of the year. Here’s how to help them through it:

🏠 Keep pets indoors — even pets that are usually fine outside can bolt when startled
🪪 Make sure tags and microchip info are up to date (more pets go missing on July 4th than any other day!)
🛋️ Create a safe, quiet space — a crate with a favorite blanket, or an interior room away from windows
🔇 Try white noise or calming music to muffle the booms
