More women over 40 are having children than ever before.

According to new CDC data, birth rates among women 40–44 have risen 127% since 1990, while births among women 45+ are up 450%. At the same time, teen birth rates have dropped dramatically.

Women are prioritizing education, careers, financial stability, and personal growth before motherhood. That reflects greater autonomy and choice, but it also points to the reality that paid leave, affordable childcare, and workplace flexibility are still out of reach for far too many families.

We love seeing women choose motherhood on their own terms. Real progress means building systems that support mothers at every age and every stage.
