Join us in Wise County as we celebrate America's 250th anniversary with two great events this weekend!

First, we have our sixth Gravestone Cleaning Workshop on Saturday. Join us for a short presentation followed by hands-on cleaning of veterans' gravestones. Bring your family, friends, kids, and grandkids as we honor those who served and help preserve their memory for future generations.

Our second event this weekend is a short Flag Day Celebration at the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday. County Judge J.D. Clark will emcee this special community event. I'm on the agenda to share a little about the DAR and our work in Wise County. Be sure to visit our DAR tables! Dana Manoushagian will have a table with activities for children and teens, and Mary Smith will have her display of various colonial and early U.S. flags along with interesting facts about each. If you like, you can wear your colonial dresses or other historical garb.

Bring your children, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors to either or both of these events. See the attached flyers for more information. These are wonderful opportunities to share our love of history, patriotism, and service while celebrating America 250!

Our next Gravestone Cleaning Workshop is this Saturday, March 28 at 9:00 a.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 465 Cemetery Rd. Decatur, TX 76234, and you are invited!

So far, we have 20 adults and one child signed up. This is a great turnout for us! Some are local community members, and we will also have Daughters visiting us from Captain Nathaniel Mills in Hurst, Mary Isham Keith in Fort Worth, and John Abston in McKinney.

I attached the flyer in case you want to invite anyone else. RSVPs are not mandatory, but we do like to get a headcount: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044EA4A92DA4FEC52-61919277-gravestone. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and this is a hands-on workshop, so wear your comfy clothes and sneakers (no sandals) and come on out this Saturday! If your family/friends can join us, we'd love to see them as well.
