Our teachers used to liken a Constellation to buffalo healing. It's said that, unlike most animals, when the buffalo see a storm approaching on the prairie they walk straight into it, in order to get through it and to the other side in the shortest time possible. In a Constellation, sometimes looking at what has been avoided or hidden- sometimes for generations- is the most direct way to free yourself from the entanglement you have with the difficult fates that were experienced by someone else in the family. Out of love and loyalty you want to heal it, but it's not your job, and it's an impossible task anyway. Letting each person have their place and their fate in the family is the best way to bring dignity to everyone.
