(Matt)
Romans 12:11
"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord."
Never be lacking in zeal means to not become stagnant in your relationship with God. If you ever have that "blah" feeling in your relationship with God, then you need to rekindle that fire. Best way to do that is to get your butt back into the word! Worship, read the Bible, do a devotional, whatever it takes to keep that fire burning. God never becomes stagnant with us, so why should WE become stagnant with HIM? Have a blessed day.
(Matt) "Waiting on me means directing your attention to Me in hopeful anticipation of what I will do. It entails trusting Me with every fiber of your being instead of trying to figure things out yourself. Waiting on Me is the way I designed you to live: all day, every day. I created you to stay conscious of Me as you go about your daily duties."
I read this in my morning devotional today and I can't help but notice the "wait" part. Our society nowadays wants INSTANT results. The minute you email someone, you are waiting on their immediate reply. Anyone remember the pain of waiting to connect to dial-up Internet? Now, we carry smart phones which enable us to immediately answer a text message, take a call, reply to a Facebook message or a Snap. Yet with Jesus ......we must WAIT! Just as Psalm 46:10 says "Be Still and Know that I am God". We must fight the urge to rush into things without waiting for him to help, waiting for him to answer us, or waiting until you feel him. If you keep him Lord of your life, everyday situations that require waiting will no longer be chores, but blessings knowing that your waiting will produce fruit. Have a blessed day!
"I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD" . Lamentations 3:24–26
(Matt) Good morning y'all! The book of James reminded me this morning that the trials, the constant testing of my faith - this all produces perseverance. And as the scripture points out, perseverance leads to maturity. Joshua 1:9 tells us to be strong and courageous. I'm sure like me, there are many times some of you have wanted to just give up. You've been beaten to a pulp, mental mush, and you throw your hands up and say I QUIT! Well here are 2 very powerful reminders of what God expects from us. Not only that, he doesn't just throw us to the wolves and disappear. He's like the parent teaching us to ride without training wheels for the first time. Telling us to be strong and courageous . To perservere and we will mature. Then we will receive the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Have a great day. Be blessed!
" Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3. because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do". James 1: 2-8
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go". Joshua 1:9

(Matt) Good morning. Psalm 46:10 says to "Be still and know that I am God". Hands down my favorite verse. Hebrew translates "be still" as to relax or to cease striving. I never knew this scripture until I attended my first Great Banquet years ago. While attending the banquet, I heard God loud and clear as he told me to relax and trust his authority; to be STILL. That's what we all must do. In times of grief, times of uncertainty, and even times of joy, we must "Be Still, and know that he is God". Stop swimming against the current and let him carry us down the river to where we are supposed to be. Have a blessed day!
