🚨 READ DESCRIPTION 🚨 I can’t tell you how often I’ve seen this. As a young youth minister I just brushed off comments like Melissa’s. I didn’t see how allowing students to listen to music such as Taylor’s, or the artist that came before her mattered longterm. Did they have lyrics that were questionable? Of course, but what secular artist doesn’t. In hindsight I was incredibly wrong and regrettably foolish. I’ve seen a number of students begin exploring ungodly idea and philosophies through the music they listen to, or the shows they watch, that eventually lead them down paths that their Christian parents or grandparents never imagined they would end up. The truth is kids pick up nearly everything. When you watch a show, they are watching it even if they are doing other things. When you’re listening to music in the car they are memorizing those words as well. When you’re having discussion with others they are learning the words and phrases to use too. I know one post isn’t going to convince any one and most likely you’ll just call me legalistic, I’m fine with that. I just want you to honestly consider for a moment what is best for your students, children, or grandchildren: music that glorifies God or music that is in opposition of Him. 06/25/2024
