👅 Tongue Out Tuesday: Heat Wave Edition! ☀️🐾
Charlie the Vizsla, Ripley the Dachshund, Archie the Doodle, and Amelia the Staffordshire Terrier have one thing to say about this Georgia heat...
“Blep first. Safety first-er.” 😜
While these adorable tongues are out for the camera, this week’s weather is no joke. When temperatures soar, our goal isn’t exercise—it’s safety. Hot asphalt can burn paws in seconds, so we stick to grassy areas whenever possible, choose routes with plenty of tree canopy and shade, and shorten walks when conditions become dangerous.
For many pets, enrichment games, snuffle mats, treat puzzles, training exercises, and indoor playtime are a much safer option than extended outdoor adventures during a heat wave.
And don’t forget our feline friends! Cats can become dehydrated, too. Make sure fresh, cool water is available throughout the day, and consider placing multiple water bowls around your home to encourage drinking.
🐾 Quick Heat Safety Reminders:
• Walk on grass, not hot pavement.
• Seek shade whenever possible.
• Keep outdoor potty breaks short during peak heat.
• Provide plenty of fresh water for both dogs and cats.
• When in doubt, stay inside and enrich those busy minds instead!
Because the safest walk is the one that keeps tails wagging safely. ❤️

The moment we cleaned and refilled the birdbath, a feathered visitor wasted no time hopping in for a splash. Before we could even admire the bird, along came Nylah, faithfully making her rounds as Chief Garden Protector and Neighborhood Wildlife Supervisor.
Don’t worry—everyone remained safe, the bird enjoyed its spa day, and Nylah was simply conducting a very thorough inspection. We suspect she’s already drafting a report on proper birdbath usage and garden security protocols.
One thing is certain: around here, fresh water attracts all kinds of visitors! 💙
During this Georgia heat wave, please leave freshwater out for our feathered friends and tiny creatures.
