I want to share the attached Declaration of Local State of Disaster regarding the threat of the New World Screwworm, signed by Judge Lewis G. Owens on June 5, 2026. This declaration is an important step in protecting our livestock industry, local economy, wildlife, and community from the serious risks posed by this pest.
The New World Screwworm is a major concern for ranchers, farmers, and animal owners across Texas, and staying informed is critical as state and local officials continue monitoring the situation closely.
