Fishing Report for February 24, 2022
The 60 and even 70-degree days mixed in with 30- and 40-degree days have kept the winds blowing at gale force, which are preventing many boats from getting out on the bay. The warmer days have allowed shore-based anglers and those who fish Delaware’s many sheltered ponds to get out on the water and do some perch fishing.
The fishing pier at Woodland Beach continues to be a popular location for white perch fishing while anglers traveling to Perryville, Maryland have reported success with yellow perch. There were also some big white perch caught from Fowler Beach.
No reports from the Indian River Inlet or the surf.
In the Inshore Atlantic Ocean, boats from Ocean City reported catching tautog.
In freshwater, trout season on the ponds starts in March, so get your license and trout stamp.
There will be a virtual public hearing on ASMFC Draft Amendment 7 to the Atlantic Striped Bass FMP on March 10 at 6 PM.
