All this week, select framed items will be steeply discounted, with the remaining items featured in a sidewalk sale this upcoming Saturday the 20th.
After the renovations and construction of my new display fixtures, it became apparent just how overstuffed and cluttered the shop is. So I'm cleaning out all the corners and selling certain items with big markdowns to make some room in here for new stuff. Salvador Dali, John Singer Sargent, Charles Frace, and more. Whatever is left after this Saturday will be disassembled, in the components reused in other projects where possible, so now is your chance to take home a treasure at a deep discount.

For sale: "Standing Girl" by Egon Schiele, 1910. Schiele was an Austrian expressionist artist, and member of the Vienna secession. As a young man he was introduced to Gustav Klimt, who took him under his wing. His early work is visually quite reminiscent of Klimt's style, as he grew older and more mature and confident, his own style began to emerge. This piece comes from the transitional period, where the figural work is very particular to Schiele, but the garment and geometry is still reminiscent of Klimt. This is framed with a black linen mat, the proportions of which have been deliberately exaggerated at the top and bottom of the frame to elongate the presentation on the wall, and contribute to the feeling of exaggerated proportion and height. Vertical rectangles are also more eye-catching and visually dynamic, so the weighted mat contributes to this effect.

Moving furniture around is fun when you can make room for a big huge storage display cube thing. It looks a lot less ominous when samples are actually on it.
